[SOLVED] Can't Get DNS to work with ZPanel X

I installed Zpanel X on a Centos 6.2 x64 VPS following the install script here:

    http://forums.zpanelcp.com/showthrea...Auto-Installer

I also ran the fix in the same post.

I am having difficulty getting domains that I create working, showing up, I am getting not found errors. I am a beginner so I would like to check my thinking.

For this post, my VPS has domain name myVPS.info, and that domain resolves to the panel login, but during the install, I chose server.myVPS.info. When I restart apache, httpd, it complains about not finding a fully qualified domain name and uses server.myVPS.info.

When I add a domain mydomain1.info in the panel domain module, the panel creates it fine, and it goes green. It is in named.conf. I can change the DNS for mydomain1.info at my registrar to ns1.myVPS.info and ns2.myVPS.info, but after 12 hours I get the site not found error.

I am not sure if I am supposed to use ns1.mydomain1.info and ns2.mydomain1.info at my registrar instead, but if I am they won't work in my registrar, unrecognized DNS servers.

I've tried to google this, but I can't find anything helpful. I like the idea of Zpanel but there doesn't seem to be much documentation to help beginners get started that I can find. If this is my problem, please feel free to point me to the resources.

For this, you need to add child name servers first at your registrar, then add ns1 and ns2 for your domain name. Other wise the registrar will not let you add the server.

Let me know your domain name registrar such that I might point you in adding child name servers.

Adding A record for "server" might fix this issue.

Re: Can't Get DNS to work with ZPanel X

Thank you for helping me. My registrar is 1&1. I figured out that you need to create subdomains at 1&1 for ns1 and ns2 for the domain that hosts the VPS and Panel so, ns1.myVPS.info and ns2.myVPS.info. You then edit the IP address for these subdomains in the 1&1 nameserver setting.

You can then set your nameservers for the domain that hosts Zpanel to ns1.myVPS.info and ns2.mvVPS.info, and it resolves to the panel.

When you set up domains on the panel, they resolve properly if you set the nameservers to ns1.myVPS.info, ns2.myVPS.info.

Glad that your issue is solved, Please mark it as solved. BTW, some registrars call them child name servers.
