Exclamation Questions about slave DNS, Apache configs

ZPanelX is amazing! There are only a couple of concerns and questions which are not immediately obvious:

    1) Is there an option to set default NS records for newly-created domains to something static? Or maybe one of the records could point to a slave DNS server rather than NS*.[newdomain]?

    2) Is there a built-in way to have the DNS zones get transferred to the slave upon deletion/modification/creation, or does this require extra scripting? Installing Webmin just to get its cluster server functions to achieve this would be total overkill, especially when the only tiny thing ZPanelX (appears to) lack is slave DNS options.

    3) When using certain Apache modules that require vhost-specific changes (for example, a reference to the username or UID), is there a template that contains the "default" vhost definition, and a reference to the variables that are used to populate it? Or would each individual domain need to be modified once it is created? Are such additions lost once the vhost is edited again?

Thank you in advance for your advice and help, and thanks most of all for such an amazing control panel.

Re: Questions about slave DNS, Apache configs

Hi, just to give you idea, you should recompile or re-write Bind config to setup an ACL script for Master and Slave and also modify the Zpanel hooks and database entry for Master and Slave.

Master and Slave was asked here before and it works fine.. just search the forum buddy or I'll post back when ever I find the link post.

Re: Questions about slave DNS, Apache configs

Thanks CA, will do! First, I need to determine if some of these things are already possible, before I go and request them like a fool.

First, in "Apache Config > Global VHost Entry", there is a field to enter directives for all vhosts. Perfect, except when entering variables like "%{SERVER_PORT}", this is literally and exactly what shows up in the config, rather than being replaced by the actual port number "80". Are variables in this field not parsed correctly, or is this not the correct way to reference them? (I don't want to request something that exists, and I would like to help if it doesn't.)

Second, with regard to DNS, it sure sounds like some of the master/slave DNS stuff may already have been implemented (via FTP) according to some threads. But there is no mention of BIND master/slave in the GUI. Is there a module that already does this that we're just not finding?

Edit: Code that outputs a BIND slave zone config file and allows FTP upload to the slave is written. Is there any particular reason why it has not been added upstream? http://forums.zpanelcp.com/showthrea...ll=1#post56828 This is a major feature!

Re: Questions about slave DNS, Apache configs

If it isn't in bugs.zpanelcp.com then nobody would have looked at it from the dev team... plus we have had a LOT of work another than development because of constant hack attempts to our servers.

Does look like a very good addition! Can someone point this all in bugs for us with the files attached? I really need some sleep about now lol
