How to restore dovecot settings

I installed zpanel on my server, but it is not recognising my existing domain. So i decided to stop using zpanel and restore my email settings. I fixed the postfix and now it is working fine,but dovecot is not working. I restarted service and it says service is running, but i cant telnet on port 110 or 143 from local computer. it says connection refused.

This was working prior to zpanel installation, so I am wondering zpanel did it own settings and blocks these ports. can you please tell me how do i fix it.
