You're absolutely right. If I want a professional control panel, there's only one way of getting it. I had a fondness for zpanel but was hesitant about installing it if it meant spending days on a forum asking what went wrong. I was assured from the off that the installation procedure was simple. It wasn't, it didn't work. Had YOU made this post when I first asked, pointing out that it DOES have installation issues, then I would not have even tried. That's the point you're missing.
If many things are assumed with open source control panels, then why does EHCP and isp config not also assume these things? As for 16 year olds setting up zpanel, that's fine if your interest is in setting up control panels, mines not, mines in using them.
The real shame about zpanels forums, as I mentioned before, is that it's geared up for those who have a prior knowledge, not for beginners, and is actually an unfriendly place for beginners. At least EHCP are helpful.
As for keeping it free, I was offering to pay for someone to set it up for me, rather than do it myself and spend months getting answers. As from your post, I realise now that it's best to stick to the tried and tested professional versions. No more open source control panels for me.
OK then cya later dismayed glad you tried any way.
But we get over 2500 downloads A WEEK and alot of very happy people!
Now just because you are unable to set up zpanel does that no point to something you are doing? I think so!
You are correct we do really want you the person we are trying to help to have prior knowledge of web hosting or simple use GOOGLE first. I mean how are we ment to help when people do not know that port forwarding is needed for a web server to run.
Stuff like that is server BASICS we are here for ZPanel support NOT to teach users server basic. That what places like webhostingtalk is for!
